Put the surname where you intend
For Elena Rose Carter, the larger-centre arrangement reads E C R. C is the surname initial and takes the prominent middle position. The equal-letter version in this tool reads E R C, following the entered name order.

Two initials need no filler
Leave the middle field empty when it is not part of the intended name. A two-letter design is complete on its own. A single surname initial can work just as well when the available space is small.
For a couple, organisation or compound surname, enter the initials you actually want shown and check their order. The tool should not guess a shared surname or assign a person’s identity from a form label.
Pick the file for the job
