PRINTABLE LETTERS • REAL STENCIL BRIDGES
Stencil Font Generator
Make uppercase letter and number templates for painting, tracing and hand cutting. Set the letter height and spacing in millimeters, choose a paper size, then open a print sheet or download a PNG.
A–Z, 0–9, spaces and hyphens. Lowercase becomes uppercase. Use line breaks to arrange a longer message.

Print at 100% / Actual size with the matching paper and orientation. Measure the 25.4 mm calibration line before cutting. The PNG is a raster template, not a cutting-path SVG.
What makes these stencil letters different?
A stencil needs small connections, called bridges, to hold the centers of letters such as A, B, D, O and R in place. Without them, the loose centers fall out when you cut the letter openings. The two typefaces here include stencil breaks in their letter designs.
Black areas show the letter shapes to cut out for a positive stencil. White gaps within those shapes are the bridges to retain. Inspect the bridges at your chosen size before cutting; small gaps may be too delicate for your material or tool.
How to create a printable stencil
- Enter a word, number or short message. The tool uses uppercase letters.
- Choose Allerta Stencil for lighter lettering or Black Ops One for heavier shapes.
- Set the capital height, spacing and paper size. If the design is too large, add a line break, switch to landscape or use Fit lettering to this sheet.
- Open the print sheet and print at Actual size. Measure the calibration line, then make a test cut before using the final material.
Letter height and print size
The height control is calibrated against the visible capital H in the selected font. Rounded letters can extend slightly beyond that height. Extra spacing is added between letters, while the font’s own side bearings remain.
The print sheet reserves a 10 mm paper margin. It includes a 25.4 mm line, exactly one inch in the intended layout, to help you catch printer scaling. If the printed line measures differently, change the print scale before cutting. Turn off browser headers and footers.
The preview scales down to fit your screen. Its on-screen size is not the physical letter size. PNG files do not reliably carry the intended print scale into every app, so use the print sheet when measurements matter.
Choose a practical letter size
| Project | Starting point |
|---|---|
| Small storage label | Try 10–15 mm capitals, then check the bridges with a test cut. |
| Craft sign or box | Try 20–35 mm capitals and a short word. |
| Larger heading | Use landscape paper or print one letter at a time. This tool does not tile across multiple sheets. |
These are layout starting points, not minimum cutting specifications. Material thickness, blade width, paint and the font’s bridge shape all affect the result. Avoid forcing very small stencil gaps onto thick material.
Stencil templates and cutting machines
The download is a black-and-white PNG rendered at 300 pixels per intended inch. It can serve as a tracing or hand-cutting template. It is not an SVG with editable cut paths. If you import it into cutting software, inspect the tracing result, counters and bridges before sending it to the machine.
For military-style name tapes and poster artwork, use the military font generator. For a horizontal reflection needed by a transfer process, use the mirror text generator.
Stencil generator questions
Can I copy and paste stencil fonts?
Plain text copying does not preserve a stencil typeface. Use the print sheet or PNG to keep the actual letter shapes and bridges.
Why is printing disabled?
The font may still be loading, the text may contain unsupported characters, or the design may exceed the sheet. The status message explains the problem. Reduce the size, add line breaks or use Fit lettering to this sheet.
Does Fit change the requested letter height?
Yes. Fit reduces the letter height to try to keep your text within the chosen sheet. It updates the height control. Letter spacing and line gap remain as entered; reduce them manually if they still prevent a fit.
Can I print one large letter?
Yes. Enter one letter, set its height and choose portrait or landscape paper. Check the fit status and measure the calibration line after printing.
Can I use the fonts in commercial projects?
